FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Read blog

The media are invited to Neoteric Hovercraft, Inc., 1649 Tippecanoe Street, Terre Haute, Indiana at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 1 to witness the launch of the company’s participation in the Final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2010 Cricket Championship.

Six Neoteric hovercraft weighing 600 pounds each will be loaded by hand into a 40-foot shipping container to begin their long journey by truck, rail and sea to India.

On April 25 in India, a total of eight Neoteric hovercraft, decked out in laser lights and piloted by Neoteric President Chris Fitzgerald and seven other Neoteric pilots, will perform a choreographed grand closing ceremony for the 2010 Indian Premier League Final.

The Neoteric hovercraft pilots include Magnus Ivanoff, owner of Ivanoff Hovercraft AB, Sweden; Steve Stafford, a police officer from Bedford, Indiana; Phil Whitney, a Midas Muffler franchisee from Bowling Green, Kentucky; Dave Reyburn, a Master CAM computer programmer from Goshen, Indiana; and Tom Dienhart, a pet store owner from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and long-time customer who has owned several Neoteric hovercraft. Additional pilots and craft are expected to be provided by Neoteric’s Indian dealer in Jammu, Kashmir.

The IPL Final will take place at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Stadium, a world class, state-of-the-art cricket facility in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, India. The stadium, considered an engineering marvel, is four times the area of an American football field and seats 55,000 spectators. The IPL is fourth on the Forbes list of the world’s hottest sporting properties, and the televised Final will be viewed by more than a billion people worldwide.

It all began when the producers of the show, the ShenanDoah Artistic Agency in Brussels, Belgium, contacted Chris Fitzgerald at Neoteric Hovercraft. The stylish Neoteric HoverTrek was chosen because ShenanDoah realized that hovercraft were ideal to perform the show due to their unique ability to travel over a surface without impacting it; the hovercraft can perform a complicated, choreographed routine without damaging the cricket field.

The match is the grand finale of Twenty20 cricket, third edition of the Indian Premiere League (IPL3 2010). A total of 60 matches will be played in the IPL3.

Neoteric Hovercraft, Inc., established in 1960, is the world’s original and most experienced light hovercraft manufacturer, with clientele in more than 50 nations. Neoteric hovercraft are recognized as the industry standard for rescue, commercial, recreational and military light hovercraft; they are the only hovercraft on the market with effective brakes and are the lightest and quietest production hovercraft in the industry. The unique versatility of the Neoteric HoverTrek makes it the only hovercraft on the market with the ability to pirouette, go sideways, reverse, and statically hover.
