Oakley Promotion

Dec 7th, 2012 Project 16778-3 began with a phone call from James Percelay founder of Thinkmodo, NY. The nature of this project took a little time to reveal itself. Oakley a Sun Glasses and clothing seller hired golfing pro Bubba Watson under contract. Oakley approached Thinkmodo for ideas on how best to capitalize on Bubba’s celebrity status while he was under contract. Thinkmodo invented the Hovering Golf Cart concept as a way to succeed with a viral video. Thinkmodo needed someone to develop, manufacture and operate the Hover Golf cart so they approached Neoteric. Due to budget constraints and a short time line Neoteric decided to modify a standard 4 passenger pre ownedcraft with a makeover transitioning the craft into a 4 passenger Hover golf cart with all the attributes such as golf bag holders, sand bottles, Golf Cart roof and seating for 4. For a Viral Video to succeed it must be a complete surprise when released, therefore everything had to be kept under raps. On the 8th Jan 2013 a crew of three from Neoteric trailered the craft to the Raven Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ where a practice flight took place on the 10th after 7pm when the golf course was closed. Filming with Bubba Watson took place on the following day, the 11th with a full day of filming from 6 am until 9pm. By April the 2nd 2013 the video had been produced and was released. Everything thereafter evolved at a ferocious pace. CNN contacted Neoteric to verify that this project was not a hoax or fake. We succeeded in convincing them that it was real so they decided to run the full story which was that Bubba Watson came up with this idea and asked Neoteric to develop a Hovering Golf cart in secret. Neoteric team again departed for New york on the 26 March 2013 to pilot the BW1 Hovering Golf Cart for the hosts of NBC’s Today’s Show, Matt Lauer and Al Roker. We spent a day on the 28th March with everyone at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ. Matt happened to be an airplane pilot and he flew the BW1 with Al Roker as passenger for one of the shots. This segment was filmed on the 28th March 2013 and was released on the Morning show when the Viral video was released. Ultimately it was reported to have reached 9 million hits. Various aspects of this project continued into Feb 2015.
